Re: coin lots on ebay?

the trends refer to if these coins were graded by pcgs and got top grading...the listed pcgs grading prices would add up to that value.

Re: coin lots on ebay?

If you bid on these Anty Ep, bid cheap. Assume all are MS62 or 63 AT BEST. The grading compnay willnot be anyone reputable.

Matter of fact, if I were interested, I would bid no more than AU55 prices period. If I don't get them, fine move on.

It's not worth the headache to get a poorly graded coin and hope to recover your costs down the line.

You make money when you buy not when you sell.

Here was the auction to win

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=290093814018

$420 face value in coins for $300. It makes no sense why he ebayed that instead of taking it to the bank.

Is it just me, or is everything on eBay extremely overhyped to fool novices? Save some time, they all seem to say this:

GREAT DEAL! RARE 100-YEAR-OLD COINS! YOU WILL RECEIVE (our choice) FROM THE FOLLOWING AMAZING COINS:

- MS-67 Saint Gaudens Gold!
- One ounce Gold Eagle!
- CERTIFIED MS-70 Morgan Dollars! Maybe even MS-75 or 80!!
- 400 oz gold bars!
- The actual coins used to bribe Judas!
- The 1933 Saint that sold for $10 million!
- Buffalo nickels - so rare!!
- Wheat pennies! Can you imagine!! I SAID WHEAT PENNIES!!

We will give you 100 coins from this amazing selection! It's totally random what you get! You may get 100 Gold Eagles! You never know! Trust us!

...

I guess a lot of optimistic people play the lottery too.......

This ranks among the dumbest shit I've ever seen in my life.....
I can't even comprehend why someone would think of listing rolls of change on Ebay.

if the listings say the lot WILL include X, then you could hold them to it. The listings that are really stupid say the lot "MAY" include x. Those ought to be disallowed by Ebay if you ask me.

Now I did one of these deals and it was probably an OK result since I got a low bid accepted. But I tell you the "slabs" they sent me other than the known rating services NGC PCGS ANACS and PCI were all crap, utterly ridiculous gradings. I would almost be ashamed to sell them to somebody they were so clearly wrong.

It will be interesting to see what response you get - I don't think its a scam - I think its just someone who saw the amount that coin went for and decided to put one up.

As a side note - I was outbid on that first coin in the last 20 secs. (I figured I'd have to sell something to get it but being a dragon and all, it seemed like a cool coina nd worth exchanging something for it!)

Everything I've seen so far on eBay has either been a rip-off, or has just seemed dishonest ("your lot MAY include..."). Even if I found something at a good price, it would probably make me think it was a scam (too good to be true).

Have people actually gotten good deals and actually received the goods they were promised?? Seems to me I'll do better with my local dealer and coin shows ... no shipping charges and less chance of getting screwed.

Yes....I generally use my local dealer - but I have gotten some sensational deals on Ebay and never once gotten ripped up or had a problem, be it silver or gold.

It was a scam. The listing was pulled by Ebay.

See - I'd love to get in on that deal, but I'd be too worried it was a scam. Just doesn't make sense.

I wouldn't touch any of these auctions.

On this particular auction the seller never did mention that the coins were from the U.S., kind of makes me wonder.

Also, I sent the seller a question asking what the shipping cost is and asked if I could pick the coin up if I win because I come to Naples all the time. That's not true of course because I rarely go to Naples but I'm curious to see what he/she responds.

i think this picture is not of a proof coin but uncirculated
see this link it shows unc & proof side by side

http://www.peterstrich.com.au/oz_coi...lunar_year.htm
note : the site says
Proof coins - 99.9 % pure gold or silver, limited issue with a box and certificate. "High polished background."
also know sure there exists a 2oz Proof coin
i think this buyer also got riped off
